Welcome to the Caribbean Safety and Security Net
Emergencies
Please do not use the Safety and Security Net website to request information on the whereabouts of a yacht or to pass emergency and/or priority messages to yachts. Emergency and priority messages can be passed by contacting the "Boat Watch Net" which is operated as a public service of ShipCom LLC, which owns and operates Public Coast Stations WLO and KLB. Originally founded by Amateur Radio Operator Mike Pilgrim (K5MP) this network has grown in popularity amongst mariners, their families and friends. In March of 2007 ShipCom LLC agreed to take over operation of the network as a public service to the Maritime community.

[Boat Watch Net]
IF you CANNOT access the web, you can e-mail directly to the Boatwatch Net (WLO@WLORADIO.COM) with the following information:

1.The name of the boat and who the message is for
2.A description of the boat: length, manufacturer, color, distinguishing marks (color of canvas, wind generator or not, etc.).
3.Country flag or hailing port
4.Last known whereabouts
5.Next destination
6.Text of message
7.Who should the recipient contact; phone numbers to call, urgency level of  message,
8.Your contact info (if there is a problem or question)

Please use the Boatwatch Net to pass only emergency and priority messages, NOT for confirming flights, arrival times, "just wonder where you are" etc.   They do this on a volunteer basis, as a public service, and we do not want to take advantage of them. They have extensive contacts all over the world, on yachts and on  land, and will target your message to a portion of the distribution list based on the last known whereabouts and next destination of the boat in question.
